Norton 650 SS 1964

Restoration project. Genuine thing, matching engine and frame numbers, has had frame and tinwear stove enameled black, engine has been rebuilt from the bottom end up to the barrels, tank has been stove enamelled silver, forks have new stantions, bushes and seals, wheel hubs have been polished, and rebuilt with Akront flanged alloy rims and polished stainless spokes, shod with new Avon tyres, there are new Hagon shock absorbers, new exhaust pipes and new silencers, levers bars and throttle are also new, as is the seat, there are various new stainless fastners dotted around the bike too. The cylinder head is the correct downdraught twin carb one, it is all good, exhaust threads are good, and has new exhaust roses ready to fit, valves are all good and springs too, has matching correct chopped monoblocks as well. There is the correct type of headlamp, with hole for the speedo and twin clocks too, as well as the separate revcounter bracket, there is the correct front mudguard and a couple of rear ones too (these will need rechroming or painting).

The work has been done over a long period and some of the paintwork may not be up to everyones standard, but it is overall a great project, there has been a lot of money spent already, but the best of it is that it has only had one registered owner from new. The original owner, in the Royal Airforce, bought the bike in 1964 in Aden whilst in military service, then brought the bike back to Britain in 1966 and subsequently registered it in this country.

All the paperwork, including; bill of sale, hire purchase documention, insurance certificates, import documents, crating documents and customs documents. It also has the original VF60 from 1966 with all the stamping from the customs office in Liverpool. There is no V5C, but with all this evidence and a letter from the Norton Owners club or similar, there will be no problem with registering it on the original number, or if you wish an age related number from 1964. A great project for someone, well worth doing.
